Summary

Durango Acoustic Music (DAM) uses three different venues to book music in Durango, Colorado: The Henry Strater Theatre (approx. 240 capacity), the Abbey Theatre (175 for seated shows, 270 for dance shows) and the Durango Arts Center (approx. 240). Although their name says "acoustic", they book all types of music; they just like the DAM name. Typically artists are offered a guarantee with a percentage of door profits after a split point has been reached. DAM also offers lodging and dinner for the band.

Local bands often play an opening set, then a headliner will play either two 60 minute sets or one 90 minute set. DAM tries to book their acts at least 2 months in advance, but often hook up with bands that are already on the road and looking to fill dates, so they've booked some shows with just a month lead time.

Durango is located in the southwestern corner of Colorado. It''s easily worked into routes around Denver, Vail, Grand Junction, Crested Butte, Telluride, Pagosa Springs and Albuquerque.

Through the years they've been responsible for bringing some truly amazing musicians to their neck of the woods, including: Greg Brown, The David Grisman Quintet, Ben Harper, Bruce Cockburn, Keb'Mo', Chris Smither, Martin Sexton, Leo Kottke, Wolfstone, Sam Bush, The Gourds, The Asylum Street Spankers, The Infamous Stringdusters, Alejandro Escovedo and the South Austin Jug Band.
