Decibelle Music and Culture Festival 2010

Don't miss your LAST CHANCE to submit to Decibelle Festival, an annual 501C3 not-for-profit, community-based event. It showcases the hottest female internationally acclaimed and emerging musicians, artists, and community leaders in dozens of events, including concerts, workshops, panels, and a film festival.

Each year, 50-100 artists play the festival. At this past year's Decibelle and preview shows throughout the year, over 12,000 people attended. There are 5 slots reserved for Sonicbids artists./n/nDecibelle Festival is an annual 501C3 not-for-profit, community-based event that showcases the hottest female internationally acclaimed and emerging musicians, artists, educators, activists, and community leaders in dozens of events, including concerts, workshops, panels, and a film festival presented at Chicago's best venues. Each year, Decibelle works to promote and benefit pro-women non-profit organizations that support non-violent social change. The event takes every fall in Chicago. There are 5 slots reserved for Sonicbids artists.

Each year, 50-100 artists play the festival. At this past year's Decibelle and preview shows throughout the year, over 12,000 people attended - and shows were sold out nearly every night. The location of the festival varies each year, but some venues have included Metro, Abbey, Schubas, The Vic, Park West, Subterranean, Empty Bottle, Uncommon Ground, and Chicago Park District. Bands will be compensated for their performance with details to be negotiated depending on the bands draw in Chicago. All artists will be provided with a registration package including a full pass to the festival. All genres are accepted.



The festival has had performances in the past from such artists as; Cat Power, Nina Hagen, Amy Ray, Margaret Cho, Concrete Blonde, Brazilian Girls, The Gossip, Sharon Jones and The Dap-Kings, ESG, Team Dresch and Wanda Jackson.



Past Decibelle sponsors include: ORBITZ, Showtime, The Days Inn, The Chicago Reader, UR Chicago, Bust Magazine, Venus Magazine, Smartwater, WLUW, Righteous Babe Records, Curve Magazine and Kill Rock Stars.



Decibelle is organized by women and open to all. The mission is to help build and foster a supportive arts community that inspires, educates, breaks down stereotypes, and encourages bold creative expression.
