The St. Andrew’s Society of Detroit is celebrating their 160th annual Highland Games, the longest continuous running Scottish festival of its kind in North America, and it is visited by people of all heritages throughout the U.S. and Canada. They are seeking high-energy Celtic entertainers for the July 31-August 1, 2009 event.

They have 4 entertainment slots each year and currently have 1 open slot for 2009. Rate and lodging are to be negotiated at the time of booking. Past performers include Tartanic, Glengarry Bhoys, NeedFire, BarleyJuice, Quagmyre, Bag Haggis, Battlefield Band, Searson, Alex Beaton, Ed Miller, Red McWilliams, etc.

St. Andrew’s Society of Detroit is a volunteer-based benevolent organization that produces the Highland Games. Their Games will feature a delightful combination of Scottish history, pageantry, athleticism and good old-fashioned Celtic fun. The event features a Ceilidh (pronounced Kay-Lee) on the Friday night before the games from 5 to 11 pm and the Highland Games on first Saturday of August from 9 am to 5 pm all at Historic Greenmead Park in Livonia near the intersection of Newburgh and Eight Mile roads.
