Summary

Dfest is one of the premier independent music festivals in the US. The Sixth Annual Diversafest [Dfest] is the largest and most comprehensive music conference and festival in the Midwest and will be held in the historic Blue Dome District of Tulsa, Oklahoma, July 27-28, 2007. Dfest includes two days of artist showcases, music industry conference panels, one-on-one mentoring with A&R and music industry professionals, clinics, a tradeshow, plus tons of opportunities to network with music industry professionals and other artists from all over the country.

The Blue Dome District is home to two outdoor concert stages and the very best music venues in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Dfest has a block party/festival atmosphere that will attract more than 25,000 music professionals, artists, music enthusiasts and fans in 2007 to discover new artists who will showcase during the two-day event.

There are over 130 artist showcase slots on over 10 stages. A minimum of 20 slots will be reserved exclusively for Sonicbids artists (last year over 50% of our artists were Sonicbids artists). Dfest’s panels designed to educate working musicians and impart invaluable information to artists in any stage of their career. The panels will span a comprehensive list of topics, along with special instructional music clinics and workshops.

By submitting to Dfest 2007, you will be considered for all of the following things:


  • A showcase slot at Dfest 2007
  • A track on the Dfest featured artist compilation with A&R distribution.


Dfest’s mission statement is “Empowering Emerging Artists”, which is done through education, networking and performance opportunities and bringing commerce and art together in an empowering environment that provides opportunities for those artists who want to take advantage of all we have to offer. DFest provides opportunities to promote up-and-coming independent music in all genres and help emerging artists further their careers.

Over the years, Dfest has showcased some of the hottest up-and-coming acts in the world. As a result, Dfest has received national media attention and a reputation for being one of the coolest showcases for new music. Confirmed artists for 2007 include: The Flaming Lips, Leon Russell, Limbeck, Kevin Welch, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey and MORE! Past showcasing acts have included: Lovedrug (Militia Group), Damone (Island Records), Ism (STM Records), Daphne Loves Derby (Outlook Records), Sherwood (Sidecho Records), Edison Glass (Credential Recordings), Minutes Too Far (B&nd Recordings/Doghouse Records), Rachael Sage (Mpress Records), Voodoo Blue (DCide Records), and Colourmusic (World’s Fair). DFest has also featured great music clinicians like Billy Sheehan (Mr. Big/David Lee Roth/Steve Vai) and Ravi (Hanson), and fabulous panelists including Sonicbids’ founder Panos Panay, who spoke in 2006.

The fine print details:

While artists selected to showcase at Dfest 2007 are not monetarily compensated or provided lodging, and they must provide their own transportation to and from Tulsa (and Austin if selected for that separate opportunity), each member of every showcasing act will receive a complimentary Dfest All Event Badge ($150 value for each badge), that will admit entrance to all music conference panels, clinics, and tradeshow. Plus, each registrant is given a tradeshow bag filled with valuable goodies from Dfest sponsors. These showcasing artist badges also admit entrance to special kick-off events, networking and industry parties where Dfest and Dfest sponsors provide complimentary food and beverage. Additionally, all Dfest participants receive a specially discounted room rate at our host hotel, the beautiful Downtown DoubleTree Hotel, where the conference panels, clinics, and tradeshow will be held.

Showcasing artists must be able to perform a 40-minute set of original material. Artists who submit but are not selected to showcase will be able to purchase a substantially discounted registration to attend Dfest. There are serious music industry contacts that can be made simply by attending Dfest, even if you are not chosen to showcase.

Diversafest stands for diversity, meaning we accept all genres of music, from rock to reggae, hip-hop to country, indie to DJ, and on and on.
