Summary
The DIY Music Festival is part of the DIY Convention: Do It Yourself in Film, Music & Books. Now in its fifth year, the event showcases independent and DIY music at year-round showcases in Los Angeles, New York and other cities, culminating in a grand finale as part of the 2005 DIY Convention in Los Angeles, February 8-12, 2005. There are 70 showcase slots available for year-round showcases. Category winners receive prizes and all entrants receive a discount towards admission to the DIY Convention and select other events.
DIY event sponsors include BMI, SESAC, Sound Exchange, CDBaby, Luck Media & Marketing, Bryan Farrish Radio Promotions, Alcasid.com, Imagic, Primera and Sonicbids. Past winners have been showcased at venues such as the Derby and Troubadour in Hollywood and past performers include Dramarama, The Bouncing Souls, Steve Wynn, Pat DiNizio, The Streetwalkin' Cheetahs, Hypnogaja, John Doe, Julianna Raye, Wayne Kramer and Cathy Richardson.
