Summary

Dreamland Theater is a small non-profit Puppet Theater and community space for artists, located in downtown Ypsilanti. It is looking for solo artists and bands to perform live at the venue. Since 2002 Dreamland has offered a variety of original entertainment including puppetry, live music, experimental theater, comedy, and local independent film. Artists will have to provide their own sound system, instruments and gear. Dreamland provides a venue for a variety of types of artistic expression including but not limited to plays, music, independent film and art exhibition.


The Dreamland Theater's mission is to facilitate creative expression and to serve as a resource for community enrichment by offering performances, exhibitions and classes for local residents and community organizations. From 2002 to the present the Dreamland Puppet Troupe has developed and presented a large number of original puppet shows working primarily with marionettes and focusing on both children's narratives as well as puppet performances for adult audiences.



In addition the Dreamland Theater functioned as a space where local artists could present contemporary creative works in a variety of mediums, a reputation which grew as the Dreamland hosted in the neighborhood of 150 shows annually, including live performance, art exhibitions, variety shows, film festivals and lectures. During this time the Dreamland received favorable press coverage in local publications and continued to grow in popularity.
