The Durango Song Contest was designed as a means to find 2 great artists to work with established, hit songwriters at the Durango Songwriter's Expo in Santa Barbara. This is not another song contest offering cash prizes or gear, the Durango Song Contest is YOUR chance to write a song with a hit-maker.

Two artists, one in each category (Pop/Rock and Country/Americana), will be selected. A maximum of two songs per category will be reviewed. There are separate submissions for each category. Please be conscious of which category you are submitting for.

A panel of music industry professionals will select the winners. The winner in each category will receive free registration in the 2008 Santa Barbara EXPO (a $299 value).

This year's Pop/Rock winner will get to write with hit songwriter and winner of the first "Write With The Hitmakers" contest, Alissa Moreno. Alissa wrote with Jeffrey Steele at The Expo and that song became the #1 song in the country for Rascal Flatts this summer, "Every Day". The Country/Americana winner will get to write with Nashville hit songwriter, Tim Johnson, who's had a bunch of #1 hits, including "She Misses Him", "I Let Her Lie", and Jimmy Wayne's latest big hit, "Do You Believe Me Now".

Additionally, the winner of each category will also receive a one song publishing deal. The pop/rock artist will get a deal with LA-baed peermusic, the nation's larget independent music publishing company and the Country/Americana winner will get a deal with Nashville's Golden Vault Music.

The success stories for the first several winners are incredible. As mentioned previously, Alissa Moreno had a #1 hit with the song she wrote at the Expo and has since signed a huge publishing deal with Universal Music. Richard Harris who won the second Pop/Rock contest signed a significant publishing deal with peermusic and is busy with a full schedule of film/tv work and producing. Sherrie Miller, who finished 2nd in last year's Country/Americana contest signed an artist deal with Sony/BMG in Nashville. Last year's Pop/Rock winner, Tim Mahoney was a Sonicbids entry and member Alissa Moreno says "The Expo totally changed my life!" Sherrie Miller says "I'm eternally grateful to The Expo for the opportunities it's provided me and any success I've had is directly attributed to my experience there.

Please note: Every artist who submits on or before December 31, 2008 will automatically be entered into a drawing for a FREE Santa Barbara Expo Registration, a $299 value!
