East Rock West Rock was created to bring original music back into the venues, bars, nightclubs, and restaurants of New Haven. From October 9th-18th 2009 the first East Rock West Rock: New Haven Music Week, took place in New Haven, CT. ERWR touched upon a broad range of genres including rock, jazz, hip hip, acoustic, DJ/dance, bluegrass, pop, and indie, creating mass appeal to all age demographics.

In the first year of ERWR over 140 acts performed in more than 20 venues during the 9 days making it the largest music festival in New England in its first year. Local and regional acts were spread throughout the city and could be seen performing at various venues any on given night. On Thursday October 15th ERWR made New Haven music history by hosting the most acts ever in one night.

ERWR held national acts such as Eve 6, Mike Posner (J records), Big Sean (Good Music), Colin Munroe (Universal Motown), New Found Glory (Epitaph Records), Cage (Definitive Jux), Jared Evan (Interscope Records), & Donnie Klang (Bad Boy).
