It is part of the Noorderslag Weekend, both a festival and a conference that attracts more than 2600 professionals from the European live music industry and 18,000 attendees.

From January 14-16, 2010, 250 acts will play EuroSonic at 20 different venues throughout the city of Groningen in the Netherlands. At least 5 slots are reserved for Sonicbids members from Europe. Artists are eligible for a 500-1,000EUR travel subsidy, courtesy of Sonicbids. The festival provides lodging and production for all selected artists. One member of each act will have access to visit the conference during the day. Last year's Sonicbids acts were: Kakkmadafakka, Lonely Drifter Karen, Nina Kinert, The Ghost, Haltalín, Baskery, Sharko and Vincent Van Go Go.

With over 100 panels, presentations, discussions and meetings, the conference serves as a platform for the international music industry, focused on European music, touring, festivals, live & record music industry and media developments. The conference also features meetings by: Yourope, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), The ETEP festivals, The European Export Offices and Network Europe.

All genres of music are accepted. Submissions are open to European artists only.

Please note: Once artist selections have been made, if more than 5 artists are selected, Sonicbids and EuroSonic will randomly select at least 5 artists that have been invited to play to determine who will be paid. Once the artists have proof of their travel arrangements, they will be paid half of the allotted travel subsidy. The other half will be paid once the act has played at EuroSonic. This reimbursement may be taxable.
