Summary
Since 1996, more than 600 bands from eight different countries have performed at the The Envol et Macadam Festival. Held from September 6-8, 2007 in showcasing venues across nine regions of the Province of Quebec, the festival draws a crowd of 10,000 young, educated and dynamic fans.
The Envol et Macadam Festival is the only international urban festival in all of eastern Quebec entirely dedicated to alternative music. Included in the list of major events held in Quebec City are concerts showcasing various music genres, from Rock to Punk to Techno and Hip-Hop, two outside stages installed in a downtown urban environment, concerts in the streets, shows in festival tents and in concert halls, and more than 50 bands from many different countries.
With an operating budget of $275,000, bands are compensated depending on a variety of factors, with details to be negotiated at the time of booking. Selected artists will also receive goodie bags.
Past performers at the festival include; Les Colocs, Guttermouth, Daniel Bélanger, Alexisonfire, Astral Projection, Infected Mushroom, Sam Roberts, Les Respectables, Martin Deschamps, Groovy Aardvark, Sloan, Randy, Dinosaur JR, Catch 22, Grimskunk, Planet Smashers, Les Vulgaires Machins, Mononc Serge, Anonymus, Fred Fortin, Michel Cusson, Mara Tremblay, Noir Silence, Matthew Good Band, Passi, Booba, The Stills, Bigwig and many more.
The Envol et Macadam Festival has more than 30 partners including, The ministère de la Culture et des Communications du Québec, The City of Quebec, Canadian Heritage
Les Brasseurs RJ (Belle Gueule), and La Société du 400e anniversaire de Québec.
The festival is run by a non-profit organism founded in Quebec in 1996 and managed by a Board of Directors composed of eight volunteer professionals. Their mission is to offer activities and services that support new musical talent and to favor the coexistence of emerging new music and professional artists via two annual events.
