Summary

Filter -In Flight is an audio program on American Airlines domestic AND international flights (channel 5) that is sponsored by Filter Magazine and Beat Marketing. It is a 2 hour looped program professionally hosted by Gary Thompson. Filter -In Flight is the same program that was formally known as The Paste Beat. Every successful collaboration deserves upgrading, and the program is already on the largest airline in the world, playing to the highest possible number passengers in the world. This month Beat Marketing has decided to upgrade their magazine partner to give the artists even more print exposure!

All music featured in Filter - In Flight will receive exposure in both Filter Magazine and Filter's "Good Music Guide."

The music from Sonicbids has been so solid that Filter –In Flight is guaranteeing to select a minimum of 5 Sonicbids artists.


Each artist featured on Filter –In Flight will receive:



  • One or more tracks on the program that are fully back announced.
  • A cut of a full page ad in Filter Magazine as well as exposure in Filter's Good Music Guide. They will list your name/band name, the name of your album or single, and where your music can be purchased.
  • A Listing on the on-line channel guide on aa.com.

Genres accepted include any type of eclectic music: rock, alternative, world, etc. Nothing too heavy will be accepted.

Filter –In Flight normally charges $2,800 per track for this opportunity. However, Sonicbids artists will pay only the submission fee. There are NO additional costs.

Submissions must be received by October 28th to be eligible for the January program. This is your chance to expose your music to the 4.2 million American Airlines passengers who fly in the each month.

FIlter Magazine comes out bi-monthly. Every other month they publish their "Good Music Guide" which reaches a HUGE amount of music fans through subscriptions and free to public distribution at retail locations such as Urban Outfitters, Landmark Theaters, as well as music and cultural events like SXSW, Sundance, Lollapalooza, CMJ, Coachella etc. Beat Marketing has been in business for nearly 5 years and runs a premier lifestyle marketing program delivering music to a large network of cafes across the country.

Please note: Selected artists must provide CD quality music either by overnight delivery or via Beat Marketing's private ftp (credentials will be provided). Unsolicited demo CDs and emails not directly submitted through Sonicbids will not be accepted.

Tips for being selected: Submit songs under 4:00 in length or as close to 4:00 as possible. Submit songs that don't have long introductions, as they don't want people flipping the channel! Lyrics must be clean, not overtly sexual, and non-offensive- no references to crashes, bombs, hijackings, etc. There were a larger number of mid-tempo songs submitted for December. Filter –In Flight also needs tracks that are somewhat upbeat. Mid-Tempo songs are fine, but the show needs a variety. No classical music will be accepted.
