Summary

The fifth edition of the Florida GRAMMY© Showcase will take place on May 13 in Orlando, Fla., as opening night of Florida Music Festival (FMF09). This event is open to all unsigned artists who reside in Florida or Puerto Rico and will reward six finalists with an opportunity to perform live on opening night of Florida Music Festival 2009 in front of an audience of music industry executives and fellow music community. In addition to performing before this influential audience, Florida GRAMMY Showcase finalists will compete for artist development prize packages worth more than $50,000. Also, for the first time, Florida GRAMMY Showcase entrants who enter before March 10 will also be automatically considered for a showcase spot in FMF09, which runs from May 14-17 and features over 200 artists.


Please Note: Artists that registered for Florida Music Festival 2009 that are Florida and Puerto Rico-based are automatically entered into Florida GRAMMY Showcase.


Florida Chapter members will also receive a discount to attend all shows, conference panels, and industry receptions at FMF09 for only $50 (reg. $100) that they can access by emailing florida@grammy.com and requesting a discount registration form. Terms And Conditions

Official Rules:
1. All entries must be received no later than 5 p.m. EDT, April 3, 2009. All entrants who submit prior to February 28, 2009 will also be considered by FMF09 for a showcase spot in their schedule, to be determined at the sole discretion of FMF09 organizers.
2. Materials submitted become the property of The Recording Academy and will not be returned. The Recording Academy will not be responsible for any deterioration in recording quality of submission that may occur, for defective or unreadable submissions, or for lost or incomplete packages.
3. Only artists who are Florida or Puerto Rico residents who are not currently under contract with a record label are eligible to enter this contest. This rule is not meant to exclude artists who have formed their own label to release their own project. FL/PR residency required for a minimum of six of the last twelve months. The Recording Academy reserves the right to request additional proof of residency. All past Florida or other area GRAMMY Showcase entrants are welcome to enter, with the exception that the six 2008 Florida GRAMMY Showcase finalists may not enter this 2009 event.
4. Minors (18 and under) must have signature on entry form from parent or guardian to enter. All individuals or group member entrants must read and sign these Official Rules.
5. Submissions will be screened and scored by a Judging Committee made up of music professionals on The Recording Academy Florida Chapter Board and any other person(s) that they may choose to appoint in addition. Six semi-finalists and six finalists will be named with only the six finalists invited to perform at Florida GRAMMY Showcase on May 13, 2009 in Orlando. From these six finalists, an Artist Development Package Grand Prize and Runner-Up Prize winner will be selected at the showcase event. The other four finalists will also receive Artist Development Packages. In the event that a selected finalist is unable to attend and perform at the showcase, the next highest finishing semi-finalist will be given the showcase slot. Details of Artist Development prize packages to be announced.
6. Finalists selected to perform at the event will be responsible for their own transportation and accommodation costs related to attending and performing at the event and must bring their own instruments for the performance.
7. Privacy and Releases: Entrants agree to accept these Official Rules and the decisions of the Judging Committee as final. By submitting an entry, Entrants agree: that if selected as finalists and/or winners, their names, photos, or likenesses, statements, and submitted songs and lyrics may be publicized in or broadcast over any medium in association with The Recording Academys Florida GRAMMY Showcase without compensation, except where otherwise prohibited by law, where Entrants may, in writing accompanying their entry, request that their names, photos or likenesses, statements and submitted songs and lyrics be withheld from promotional publicity; and that they release The Recording Academy and its subsidiaries, affiliates, promotional agents, and contest judges from any and all liability, claims, or actions in connection with participation in the contest or with the receipt, ownership, or use of any prize, or while preparing for participation in, and/or traveling to any prize or promotion-related activity. No substitution of prizes is offered, no transfer of prizes to a third party is permitted, and prizes may not be redeemed for cash value. Winners must sign an Affidavit of Eligibility certifying unsigned status. Winner may also be required to sign and return a Liability/Publicity release. In the event such Affidavit and Liability/Publicity Release is not returned within ten (10) days of the request being made, prizes may be forfeited and an alternate winner selected. This statement is subject to verification by The Recording Academy. Any false information will result in automatic disqualification and forfeiture of prize.
