Summary

Second Life® is a 3-D virtual world created by its Residents. Since opening to the public in 2003, it has grown explosively and today is inhabited by millions of Residents from around the globe. Among Second Life’s many features and activities, Residents can enjoy live music of diverse genres at clubs and venues.

Freestar Bay is a popular club in the second life community that is currently accepting Sonicbids submissions from Second Life members interested in and versed in playing in-world gigs. At any given time there are usually 45 to 50 people attending performances and often many more are listening remotely. While the promoter is open to receive submissions from any style of musician, it should be noted that playing a gig in Second Life takes experience and knowledge of the basic functioning of Second Life. Before being booked to play a gig, the artist must have a working avatar, streaming software, a good audio card, a reliable and fast internet connection, in-world instruments and props, and a basic knowledge of how to play a quality and enjoyable show in-world. It is recommended that artists use two computers to perform, one for streaming the audio and the other to run Second Life.

This is a great gig for bands well-versed in live audio streaming over the internet; it is a one of a kind chance to perform live to a passionate audience at Second Life's premier music venue. Those who are new to Second Life may find the gig to be a bit advanced, and it is suggested that they work to gain an appropriate knowledge base for the relevant information before submitting. All selected artists will be required to perform at least one practice show before they can be on the actual Showcase schedule.
