Summary

Gary Allen, drummer from The Charlie Daniels Band, (The Devil Went Down To Georgia) and JJ Cale (Cocaine, After Nidnight) are seeking original songs to evaluate for use by bands, soundtracks and other licensing. They are looking for artists from a wide variety of genres including Americana, blues, rock, R&B, soul, country, pop, jazz, punk, reggae, acoustic, and instrumental. Selected artists receive promotion, a chance at getting their song licensed, and a slot in Nashville's longest running Rock and Roll jam night./n/nGary Allen, drummer from The Charlie Daniels Band (The Devil Went Down To Georgia, The Souths Going To Do It Again!, Long Haired Country Boy), JJ Cale (Cocaine, After Midnight, Call Me The Breeze) and Opry Star Stonewall Jackson (Don't Be Angry, Waterloo) are seeking original songs to evaluate for use by bands, soundtracks and licensing through his connections as a BMI writer and performer. The new contest will be featured in The Examiner, My Space, and in Gary Allen's Music City Beat monthly newsletter.



Genres currently entering the contest include: Americana, blues, rock, R&B, soul, country, pop, jazz, punk, reggae, acoustic and instrumental. Selected songs will receive a written evaluation by Gary Allen and will be passed on to additional contacts such as managers, A&R, radio, TV, engineers, booking agents, record labels and program directors.


Winners, runner ups, very honorable mentions, and Gary's Spotlight Sonicbids artists are featured in The Music City Beat newsletter that goes out to thousands of hand selected recipients monthly. Gary will send the winner an autographed publicity photo of The Charlie Daniels Band and a quote for use on MySpace, band website, bios, liner notes, and/or Sonicbids EPKs.



They cannot critique all entries due to the sheer volume of submissions but Gary answers all inquiries and questions personally. Their good reputation is built on a hands on approach and respect for the music and the songwriters.



Prominent winners of their competitions include Val Halla, who is opening for Ted Nugent as we type. They have have had Rolling Stones, Doobie Brothers, Wings and Pointer Sisters in their contests. Competition can be stiff as Al Gore but that makes it all the better.



The selected artist will receive:


  • Lynchburg Cake and Candy, made with Tennessee Jack Daniels Whiskey - The chocolate whiskey balls are a favorite with winners.

  • Julia's LipTints, will send the selected artists a really cool lip tint that holds up under stage lights and through photography sessions.

  • Gary hosts the Play It Again Jam, Nashville's longest running musicians rock and roll jam, and is Yahoo's third rated musicians jam of 34 million related sites. Winners can headline Music City's ONLY Rock and Roll Musicians Jam any Sunday night for eternity. The jam is in year five and has been voted by The Nashville Scene as one of the coolest things to do in Nashville. Artists will receive a DVD stereo recording of their performance and get their own copy.
