G! Festival 2009

G! Festival is located in the Faroe Islands, midway between Icelend, Norway, and Scotland. It is situated in the picturesque seaside village of Göta, in and has redefined the whole musical landscape of the Faroe Islands with its international scale and visionary scope.

The 2009 G! Festival will host 35-40 performers on 3 stages. Genres accepted include rock, pop, folk, roots, and electronic, among others. G! Festival is guaranteeing to select up to 3 Sonicbids artists. Selected artists will receive 1,000 EUR each. An additional travel stipend of $1,000 USD will be awarded to bands selected from North America.

Previous G! Festivals have sold all 6,000 tickets, and approximately 2,000-4,000 additional spectators enjoyed concerts from the hills and bay surrounding the festival grounds. In total, that accounts for nearly one-fifth of the entire population of the Faroe Islands!

Past notable performers include: The Dixie Hummingbirds (USA), Natasha Bedingfield (UK), Kaizers Orchestra (NO), Metronomy (UK), Hatesphere (DK), Loney, Dear (SE), Mugison (IS), Polkaholix (DE), Teitur, Týr, Eivör, Boys In A Band, and all the most exciting artists from the Faroe Islands.
