Summary

Goucher College is a small, co-educational, liberal arts college just outside of Baltimore, Maryland. Currently, they have around 1,300 undergraduate students with a wide array of musical tastes and interests. Goucher is now booking for their 2007/2008 academic year.

There are a number of different opportunities available for local, regional and touring artists at Goucher, ranging from smaller coffeehouse style performances to end of the year school-wide concerts. The following is a sampling of some of the performance opportunities they are looking to fill for the upcoming Fall and Spring semester:

  • Gopher Hole First Friday Concert Series – The Gopher Hole is Goucher’s on-campus, student run coffeeshop. It is open from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. seven nights a week. Recently, a new program was introduced in which on the first Friday of each month during the semester, a lively, energetic band is brought in to rock the house. This is a two hour set, and pay is negotiable.

  • Gopher Hole Weekend Performances – In addition to the First Friday series, they are also looking for off-campus bands to perform on any Friday and Saturday nights that student bands are not already playing. This is more of an opportunity for Acoustic, Singer/Songwriter artists, but they will review all submissions.

  • Goucher Live! – The Goucher Activities Board, which is a student programming board, plans this annual event in the Spring semester and is a campus-wide event. They usually hold it in the later months so it can be an outdoor concert, and they are looking for higher caliber bands for this event. Though we will not discriminate genres for this event, it is usually more conducive to high-energy rock bands than mellow acoustic bands (not there’s anything wrong with acoustic bands).

  • Comedy Night/Entertainer/Other – GAB (Goucher Activities Board) also plans other nights throughout the year and looks for non-musical performers. In the past, comedians have usually been the best course of action, but that doesn’t mean they can’t buck the trend.

Artist compensation is based on individual circumstances; they don't have flat rates or maximum budgets. Travel and lodging costs will also be decided on a case-by-case basis. Goucher needs artists with a loyal local following and who can attract a large portion of the Goucher student body.
