Summary

Great Waters Folk Festival is pleased to present its 3rd Annual Great Waters Songwriting Contest.



JUST ADDED: New Hampshire Public Radio will be recording and broadcasting the Saturday evening mainstage of The Great Waters Folk Festival this year. This means the winning song of the songwriting contest will be broadcast!!



Have your songs heard by a panel of professional songwriters and other music professionals from the folk music community! Panel includes professional songwriters, broadcast and print professionals, and other music industry people. Past panelists include Bill Morrissey (singer/songwriter), Ellis Paul (singer/songwriter), Gene Swimmer (Ottawa Folk Fest director), Vance Gilbert (singer/songwriter), and Annie Provensano (concert promoter, radio DJ).



Five finalists will be chosen to perform their songs for both an audience and panel of judges on Saturday afternoon during the 5th Annual Great Waters Folk Festival (July 28-30, 2006). Past performers include Nanci Griffith, Arlo Guthrie, Natalie MacMaster, Del McCoury, Dar Williams, Richie Havens, and more.



The songwriting contest offers cash prizes and an opportunity for the first-place winner to perform on the Saturday evening main stage at the festival, before the headliner’s set. First, second and third place artists will win cash prizes. All finalists will get performer lodging as well as one performer and one guest festival pass.



Please note: The contest is open to those who consider themselves amateur songwriters. For the purposes of this contest, an amateur songwriter is defined as a person who has not earned more than $6,000 during Calendar Year 2005, nor more than $4,500 during Calendar Year 2004, from songwriting.
