Summary

The Groove is the only place in New York City to hear live R&B, Funk, & Soul music 7 nights a week. What started off as a group of talented musicians jamming at the legendary 101 bar in the early 90's has evolved into a roster of rotating house bands comprised of the best musicians and performers in the city. Sure, the bands have changed slightly over the years, but as musicians have come and gone, the thing that remains consistent is the talent and passion of our musicians.

We're currently Seeking bands to perform at Groove on a variety of nights this summer/early fall, opening for our regularly performing acts or headlining.

The Opportunity

The Groove is the ONLY place in New York City to hear live FUNK, SOUL, and R&B music 7 nights a week!

Greenwich Village has had a long history as a music mecca. Artists from far and wide have performed at the tiny clubs which once dotted every single street, however now just a few vestiges of the Village's past remain. The Groove is one that remains, honoring the rich musical tradition of Greenwich Village.

Groove is a cross between and neighborhood bar, with regulars who know your name, and a live music venue.

We're looking for quality acts that can bring amazing grooves as well as their own fans to our legendary stage.

The Band

Groups with a good Funk/Soul/R&B sound, or that have elements of these kinds of music should apply. Jazz also considered. We look forward to hearing from you!

Bands must have live show history in New York or have relationships, friends, family, etc in the NYC area who will allow them to draw a paid crowd
This is an amazing opportunity for local and nationally touring artists.
Bands must be actively playing shows
Bands must be willing to heavily promote the show if chosen to play
Bands are able to sell merch on-site
All acts applying must meet the criteria that we look for, lyrics, stage presence, style and artists must have a fanbase
Acts must have a solid online presence

The Gig

Typical Set Lengths: 40 mins - 1 Hour

General backline and PA is provided

Bands will receive a percentage of door sales
Bands get drink tickets

If you're interested in playing, we'll send availabilities that fit your band.

All artists are screened and booked based on the quality of music and on how many people you can draw to the show, so it is extremely important that you can bring a following of at least 15+ people
