Halogen had its humble beginning in a modest dorm room at Goddard College in Plainfield, VT. CEO/President Justin Hoy founded Halogen in 1997 to help musicians on campus and in the local area to get their music heard and distributed nationally. He worked with Josiah Friedberg to develop what would become Halogen Media Works. In 2005 Halogen Records began promoting live events has not stopped in their efforts to build a live music brand in Vermont as well as developing tours throughout the country.


Halogen has worked with several of Vermont's most beloved musical talents including Myra Flynn, Erin McDermott and Aaron Flinn. Halogen has also been working with Vermont-based musical collective Japhy Ryder. Japhy Ryder will release their anticipated upcoming album, “If the Haves are Willing,” through Halogen. In addition, the label has brought some regional artists into its talent pool including: New York based Haakon's Fault, The Mumbles and DJ G.I. Joe. Halogen continues to develop up and coming talent including Mel Flannery Trucking Co. and Philadelphia Slick.
