Summary
The Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival is the ultimate jazz and blues experience in Atlantic Canada. The six day celebration features a staggering line-up of local, national and international talent in a huge annual party thats been showcasing some of the best names in jazz and blues for two decades. 2012 will see the return of the Galaxie Rising Star contest, which offers emerging New Brunswick artists a chance for provincial and national exposure.
Competing bands must have 50% of their members either born in New Brunswick or currently living there since January 1, 2012. Selected acts will play the Galaxie Barracks Stage during the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival, an event that usually draws a crowd of 80,000 people. Competitors will play 20 minute sets and be judged by a panel on talent, originality, and stage presence.
The Winner Receives:
- A generous prize package, including an opening slot for fast-rising fellow Canadians Said The Whale and Wintersleep.
Applicants cannot have played the Harvest Jazz & Blues Festivals main stage before. Past bar, pub, restaurant, Tannery stage, Queen Street acoustic stage, and past showcase performances do not qualify as Harvest Festival main stages.
