The concerts are held Thursday evenings from 5:30–7:00 pm starting July 8th and ending August 26th, 2010. Compensation is provided and is based upon the artists experience and status (local, regional, national).

The Home Grown Blues Series was created to bring public awareness in the form of a concert series to the many styles of Oakland Blues that are found in and around the area. Home Grown Blues Series is the longest-running blues series in Oakland; they are now in their 14th year of running the series. The goal of this project is to provide the residents of Oakland and the surrounding communities with the opportunity to learn about the rich blues history in their area.

Each concert includes a brief history of Oakland blues and how the Oakland artist performing at that week’s concert affected the history of the Oakland Blues scene. These concerts are presented to provide awareness and support to the blues sound known as Oakland Blues (West Coast Blues). This project is intended to help bring some of the Oakland blues legends back to the stage to teach the community and youth how Oakland blues has influenced the music they listen to today. This concert brings a great cross-section of the Bay Area together.
