Summary

The Hottest New Artist song contest is seeking submissions in various genre categories including hip-hop, R&B, holy hip-hop, gospel, country, rock, pop, metal, jazz, inspirational, alternative, comedic, and more. All entries will be aired on the Hottest New Artist radio show and further prizes include placement on a compilation CD, a publishing contract, an album package, and more. Final prizes will be announced on the HNA website./n/nThe Hottest New Artist was founded on the premise of inspiring and promoting good music from today's top emerging artists. Artist's songs will be entered into the HNA competition and if the song has hit potential, it will be played on the air along side some of today’s top commercial artists. After the song has been played on the air, it will be opened up for further evaluation and critique from the HNA listening audience and panel.



The Hottest New Artist national radio show airs on Thursdays @ 8 p.m. on 1340WHAP.com and on 1340AM on the radio dial. The gloves are off and artists can send their best material, since the world and the HNA panel will be commenting on the songs. Also, for a limited time period, selected songs may be included on the current Hottest New Artist CD production set for an early 2011 release.


All 40 finalists will receive prizes that will be posted on the HNA website as their sponsors and partners are announced.


The show broadcasts to 70,000 listeners in the Richmond, VA area and on the internet. Songs are judged by industry professionals, radio show callers, internet polls, and event attendees (based on live on video performances). Submissions will be screened on production quality, originality, song writing overall impact and radio readiness. Artists should edit out explicit lyrics; no re-mixes or samples please. The contest is open to US Citizens, residents and US military members serving overseas.



The three phase song battle is for emerging artist to submit original songs for the chance to become PDS Entertainment LLC (ASCAP) Top Artists and #1 HNA.


  • Phase I: 40 semi-finalists will be selected by virtue of their song and move on to the next phase

  • Phase II: Artists perform at Meeting of Artist (in person or by video- see website for rules)

  • Phase III: up to 20 Top artists receive publishing contract, placement on a compilation CD, promotion, and are paid royalties. Additionally, the first place artist will be offered a complete album package.
