Indiegrrl Women in the Arts Conference 2008

Founded in 1998 as a networking group for women in the independent music industry and getting its non profit status in 2006 as part of the Indie Music For Life 501c3, Indiegrrl now supports and showcases all Independent Women in the Arts regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation. In 2008, Indiegrrl will be making history with its first annual conference scheduled on August 21-24.



The conference will showcase the best women in the independent music, performance poetry, story telling, dance and comedy industries. The conference location is the historical Spencer Penn Centre located in Spencer, VA at the foothills of the beautiful Virginia Blue Ridge Mountains & Parkway.



The conference will provide an excellent opportunity for all women in the arts, booking agencies, venues, industry professionals, businesses supporting the arts, and self-represented artists to gather together, network, showcase, and exhibit and conduct business. The event celebrates "Women in the Arts" and emerging talent with 2 days/nights of showcases from selected original acts and artists. Industry professionals attend as panelists, speakers, mentors, exhibitors and talent scouts to network, do business and share their experience with the registrants over both days. A dinner buffet banquet on Thursday night will feature an industry professional guest speaker and will recognize the Indiegrrl Honorary members. The banquet will be followed by a socializing party in the lounge at the Dutch Inn Hotel.



Over 60 showcase opportunities are available in various categories. Performers selected to appear at the conference will have their artist information and website links on Indiegrrl.com’s special conference page. Indiegrrl members are also listed on the Indiegrrl Member page.



Artists traveling to 2008 Indiegrrl Women in the Arts Conference are responsible for their own travel arrangements although discount accommodations at The Dutch Inn are available. Also, if selected, artists will be given a 50% discount on registrations.



Please note: Individual artists that are being submitted to showcase must identify as a female. Bands/Duos/Groups that are submitting to showcase must be female fronted or have at least half of the performing members identified as female.



Also note: The $15 submission fee is for existing Indiegrrl members in good standing. The $45 fee is for artists who are not Indiegrrl members to sign up for a membership and submit for the conference.
