Indie Week Toronto 2007

The 4th annual Indie Week is dedicated to showcasing Indie artists. Unlike other music festivals, Indie acts will not have any label showcases or agency nights to compete with. Bands will be chosen solely on applications – you MUST apply to be considered.

Every application will get reviewed and judged based on presentation, professionalism and quality (songwriting, performance, and production - songwriting will take the highest merit as we all know that not everyone can afford top end studios).

The festival has a competition atmosphere with acts being voted on performance, songwriting, talent and star quality. Winners of Indie Week 2006 include Clara Lofaro, The Guv'nor Generals and Miwa Gemini.

This year Indie Week is looking for one act with what it takes to be the next big thing!

Here are some cool things about Indie Week:

• Bands/Artists can GET PAID - Each participating band will be paid up to $100 (based on attendance).
  
• Bands are allowed to sell their merch and are encouraged to take part in the afternoon merch fair on Saturday October 13.
  
• $5 from each Indie Week submission fee will be used as part of cash prizes awarded to the best act.
  
  
• EXPOSURE! – Artist who performed at Indie Week 2006 were reviewed by TOONAGE.CA who is very interested in participating again this year.
  
• MORE EXPOSURE! - INDIESOLO.COM is profiling artists that they met at Indie Week 2006 and are also interested in participating at Indie Week 2007.
  
• INFORMATION! – Indie Week in talks with another company interested in holding a MUSIC SUMMIT CONFERENCE holding music industry panels - Stay tuned!!!
  
• Bands will receive reviews of their EPK – feedback, which hopefully will help to make their package even better.
  
• Bands/Artists have a chance to meet industry insiders at Indie Week’s "industry schmooze" on Thurs Oct 11. Previous attendees have included A & R from Universal, Linus Entertainment, Iguana Studios, Chart Magazine, The Agency, Weir Management, C Squared Productions, Spill Magazine, Soulshine.com, TOONAGE.CA and many others. A great way to meet and expose your music to others in the industry.
  
• Artists run Indie Week and know what it's all about and what’s missing from other festivals (there is more room for Indie artists as many of the festivals showcase talent that is already signed).
  
• Acts that have applied may have a chance to perform at other shows outside of Indie Week.
  
• Indie Week is designed so that there is something for each act on each day. Industry Schmooze + selected acts from Indie Week 2007 perform (Thurs, Oct. 11), Showcases (Fri, Oct 12), Merch Fair/Finals (Sat, Oct 13). - NOTE: dates may be added based on interest.
  
• Great prizes are being gathered for the band with the highest votes during the showcases.

Participating venues include: The Bovine Sex Club, The Cameron House, Holy Joe's, The Reverb, The Rivoli, and more!

All genres except Jazz, Hip-Hop, Rap and Dance are accepted.
