Summary

Angelic Music is the UK’s first Record and Publishing Music label to specialize in female singer-songwriters. They are excited to announce their follow-up to the hugely successful songwriting competition ‘In Her Own Words’ that launched Angelic Music in 2006. This year’s competition has been launched by popular request over the last year following tremendous success of the event in 2006 which attracted entries from all over the world.

The ‘In her Own Words’ competition is open to all female singer-songwriters with a minimum age of 15. Entries cost $25 per song and artists can enter as times as they wish.

Prizes for the competition include:

  • A day with a producer in a top industry recording studio (worth £1000)
  • A brand new Blueridge Acoustic guitar (worth £500)
  • The winning song will be included on the Songlink compilation CD distributed to industry and radio across Europe and the UK.

Rosie Oddie, the past winner of this competition has enjoyed many career-changing opportunities due to her selection on Angelic Music’s CD, including:

  • Nationwide press, signing with one of the countries top agencies ‘Primary Talent’.
  • Performance slot at the 02 Festival in Hyde Park and a tour culminating at the Shepherd Bush Empire on December 23rd 2007 as support to ‘The Blockheads' on their 30th anniversary tour.
  • Signing with a London management company and is currently in talks with major labels across London.

The following industry experts will be judging the competition: Sir Harry Cowell (25 years experience in the music business), David Stark (Editor/publisher of SongLink International), Megg Nichol (songwriter for over 250 songs for TV, Radio and CD releases), Kerry Harvey-Piper (Managing Director - Red Grape Records), and Janis Haves (Founder of Angelic Music).

Angelic Music was founded by Janis Haves, a working singer/songwriter with a mission to foster female talent. Angelic Music has been set up in response to the homogeneity of the pop industry. Rather than searching out those who fit the build of a stereotypical pop princess, they believe in talent, passion and individuality rather than age or waist size and think audiences want great music and are less interested in image than the mainstream music industry claims.

By associating themselves with Angelic, singer-songwriters will become part of the ever-increasing network of music professionals already associated with the label. They will also be helping the industry to get one step closer to removing the constraints of the pop mold.
