In the City (ITC) 2006

Founded in 1992 by Yvette Livesey and Factory maverick Anthony Wilson, In The City is the date in the music industry calendar.



By day, Manchester becomes home to the brightest and best in the business, as industry leaders debate the present and plot the future. And by night, Manchester hosts the biggest city-based music event in Europe, as the bands and fans take to the streets.



Rightly regarded by the global music community as the premier new music event in the world, ITC has helped launch the careers of Oasis, Coldplay, The Darkness, Doves, Foo Fighters, Elbow, The Stereophonics, Muse and many, many more.



In the City has reserved three slots for Sonicbids artists from North America and Australia. The three bands who are selected to play will receive US$1000 to help cover travel costs (half paid upon proof of travel arrangements to In The City; the other half paid after the artist performs).



This year, celebrating 15 years in the business, ITC 2006 will take place at the Midland Hotel and venues right across Manchester, England from the 29th of October to the 31st.



ITC days feature keynotes from music’s biggest characters, foremost industry leaders and most cutting-edge innovators - sharing anecdotes, thoughts and serious business discussion with captivated audiences. Alongside high profile interviews In The City boasts an unrivalled panel and masterclass schedule focusing on the key music, technology and business issues and ideas of the day.



An annual meeting point for key labels, publishers, lawyers, agents, technology companies and media, ITC delegates attend from all corners of the globe to network, debate, party and set the music industry to rights.



And the night time sees 3000 industry delegates and 100,000 music fans head out for In The City Live: as a mass of new music-makers take over the city of Manchester to create the biggest city-based music festival in Europe.



It’s music and it’s also business; ITC Unsigned has the highest signing ratio of any new talent event in the world.
