In The City (ITC) 2008

In The City 2008 will take place on the 5th, 6th & 7th October 2008 in venues all over Manchester, England.

Launched in 1992 by the late Tony Wilson and his partner Yvette Livesey, In The City is the world’s premier new music event – by day discussing the past, debating the present and plotting the future of the global music industry and by night hosting the best new music from around the world.

Bringing together press, broadcasters, celebrities, captains of industry and, of course, the best new bands in the world, ITC is an annual meeting point for key labels, publishers, lawyers, agents, technology companies and media and ITC delegates attend from all corners of the globe to network, debate, party and set the music industry to rights. The night time sees 2,500 industry delegates and 100,000 music fans head onto the streets of Manchester for In The City Live: as a mass of new music-makers take over the city to create the biggest city-based music festival in Europe. It’s music and it’s also business; ITC Unsigned has the highest signing ratio of any new talent event in the world.

ITC has helped to launch the careers of Arctic Monkeys , Ash, Badly Drawn Boy, Biffy Clyro, Bjork, Chemical Brothers, Courteneers, Daft Punk, Doves, Elastica, Elbow, Enter Shikari, Fear of Music, Foo Fighters, Gallows, Hadouken, Idlewild, Lady Sovereign, Liam Frost, The Longcut, Maximo Park, Muse, Nine Black Alps, Oasis, Orson, Placebo, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Snow Patrol, The Stereophonics, Suede, The Darkness, The Fratellis, The Long Blondes, The Paddingtons, The Rakes, The Ravonettes, The Subways, The Verve, The Wombats and many, many more.

In the City submissions are open to ALL artists worldwide - and there are three slots reserved specifically for Sonicbids artists from outside the UK. The three bands that are selected to play will receive $1,000 USD to help cover travel costs (half paid upon proof of travel arrangements to In The City, the other half paid after the artist performs).
