Summary

Musician's Friend Token Listing - Free Submission. School of Groove is putting on 4 Battle of the Bands competitions in Cambridge, MA, New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington DC. The competitions welcome a wide variety of genres and hosts both over 18 and under 18 divisions. Round 1 will feature 8 winners that will get recording and coaching sessions, on air interview and performance time, and gear. Round 2 will see bands vying for 2 Grand Prize management and publishing contracts./n/nIn the Groove: Battle of the Bands 2011 will present 64 bands from throughout the Northeast in two rounds of competition with prizes available in both rounds. The competition has divisions for both 18+ and under 18 bands. The promoters welcome a variety of genres including acoustic, adult contemporary, classic rock, country, electronic/dance/DJ, folk, funk, Gospel, hip hop, rap, jazz, Latin, metal, pop, punk, rock, reggae, singer/songwriter, urban, R&B, and world. Battles will be held in Cambridge, New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington DC.



First Round Venues are now confirmed:

November 6: Twins Jazz (Washington D.C.)

November 12: Prince Theatre Black Box (Philadelphia, PA)

November 19: Symphony Space: Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre (New York, NY)

November 20: Ryles Jazz Club (Cambridge, MA)



Round 1 will take place on Saturdays between October 29th and November 19th. 64 performers will compete for 8 first place slots between the over and under 18 divisions.


Round 1 Prizes:


  • A Four Hour Recording session (Venues to include: Bridge Sound and Stage, Tonic Couture Studios)

  • Coaching session by School of Groove coaches

  • On air interview and performance (Stations to include: WZBC)

  • Over $2000 in gear prizes from Sam Ash



Round 2 Grand Prize:

  • A management contract

  • A publishing contract with School of Groove Press


Prizes will be available in both the over 18 and under 18 categories. The venues hold between 250 and 500 people and the expected audience of each show is around 300.
