Summary

Iowa State University, located in Ames, Iowa, provides a wide variety of entertainment for the community ranging from a club environment to large outdoor concerts. The entertainment is geared towards the whole Ames community and falls into a mix of different genres. The school generally books around 30 shows and around 50-60 artists, not including large events, during the school year, and is currently seeking entertainment for the 2008 Spring semester, January- April.



  • Performing Arts events- The university is looking for magicians and comedians who have experience performing for a college audience. Acts will be compensated and upon negotiation, lodging and hospitality will be provided. Past performers include Dave Attell, Dane Cook and Dale K.



  • The Maintenance Shop- With a capacity of 201 people, this venue is seeking local and national acts of all genres of music for shows in the spring of 2008. Compensation is negotiable. Past performers include Jack Johnson, OK Go, Apples in Stereo, Matt Costa, Matt Wertz, Feist, Limbeck, Lucy Kaplansky, Bo Ramsey, Tower of Power, and many more at the longest running nightclub in Ames, IA.



  • The 10,000 Hours Show- As a concert for students that volunteer a minimum of 10 hours of volunteer service in the state of Iowa, The 10,000 Hours Show is an incentive for their participation. Only volunteers gain admission to the concert. Past performers include, Cake, Ben Folds, and Jet.



  • VEISHEA- The largest student run celebration in the country hosts several musical artists for an outdoor festival in April celebrating Iowa State. Past performers include Tristan Prettyman, Saliva, Story of the Year, Robert Earl Keen, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Chris Cagle, Local H, and Nappy Roots.



    Submitting artists will be considered for all on campus opportunities, and Iowa State University will ultimately decide where each artist will perform.
