Summary

International Pop Overthrow (or IPO, as it has affectionately become known) is a pop music festival which has been held for the past six years in Los Angeles, and more recently in Chicago, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Liverpool, England (at the world famous Cavern Club)!

We're proud to announce that our first stop in 2004 will be Nashville, Tennessee, from March 4-7. Later in 2004 we'll be back in Chicago, Los Angeles, The Bay Area, New York, Liverpool, as well as other locations to be announced. Each International Pop Overthrow features between 100 and 180 of the best pop bands from around the world. The purpose of International Pop Overthrow is two-fold: one aim is to give every worthy band who'd like to play their music in a festival atmosphere the chance to do so, and the other is to bring pop music the attention it so richly deserves, with the hope that it gains the kind of exposure that brings it into the hearts and minds of the mainstream and, hopefully, todays radio and video markets.

Pop music, as it applies to International Pop Overthrow, is primarily guitar-based, melody-driven rock 'n roll music that is inspired by the spirit of the music that graced the radio waves in the 1960s and 1970s, but with a modern edge. If you feel that your music falls within this umbrella, we'd love to hear it!

IPO Sponsors include Sonicbids, CD Baby, Jam Recordings, Rainbow Quartz Records, DW Drums, various others in particular locations.

IPO is held at venues like Schubas (Chicago), Knitting Factory (Los Angeles), The Cavern Club (Liverpool), TT The Bears (Boston), Arlene Grocery(New York), Khyber (Philadelphia), Mojo Room & Lounge (Baltimore) and many, many more! This yearÂ’s dates are:
