International Pop Overthrow (or IPO, as it has affectionately become known) is a pop music festival which has been held for the past seven years in Los Angeles, and more recently in Chicago, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Nashville, San Francisco, and Liverpool, England (at the world famous Cavern Club)! We're proud to announce that 2004 was our most successful year yet, and we are greatly looking forward to all of the IPO shows in 2005. International Pop Overthrow would like to give a huge "THANK YOU" to Sonicbids for their continued support and sponsorship.

Our first stop in 2005 will be Nashville, Tennessee, from March 10-15. Later in 2005 we'll be back in Chicago, Liverpool, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, as well as other potential locations. Each International Pop Overthrow features between 100 and 180 of the best pop bands from around the world. The purpose of International Pop Overthrow is two-fold: one aim is to give every worthy band who'd like to play their music in a festival atmosphere the chance to do so, and the other is to bring pop music the attention it so richly deserves, with the hope that it gains the kind of exposure that brings it into the hearts and minds of the mainstream and, hopefully, todays radio and video markets.

Please note deadlines for regional events are as follows:

East Coast: September 2

Pop music, as it applies to International Pop Overthrow, is primarily guitar-based, melody-driven rock 'n roll music that is inspired by the spirit of the music that graced the radio waves in the 1960s and 1970s, but with a modern edge. If you feel that your music falls within this umbrella, we'd love to hear it!

IPO Sponsors include Sonicbids, Not Lame Recordings, Jam Recordings, Rainbow Quartz Records, DW Drums, and various others in particular locations.

IPO is held at venues like Schubas (Chicago), Knitting Factory (Los Angeles), The Cavern Club (Liverpool), The End (Nashville), Bottom Of The Hill (San Francisco), TT The Bears (Boston), Arlene Grocery (New York), Khyber (Philadelphia), and many, many more! This year's dates are:

Los Angeles: July 22-August 7 (170 performance slots)

Bay Area: August 10-16 (35 performance slots)

Philadelphia: November 3-6 at The Pontiac

Boston: November 9-13 at The Paradise Lounge

New York: November 17-22 at The Baggot Inn

We are currently accepting applications for all of the above locations.
