International Pop Overthrow (IPO) 2010

The deadline is approaching to submit to the Denver leg of the International Pop Overthrow (IPO). IPO began nine years ago in Los Angeles and has expanded to 12 other cities in the US, UK, and Canada including Boston, New York, Toronto and Philadelphia. Each IPO features between 25 and 180 of the best pop bands from around the world. Playing IPO means playing in some of the most famous venues in the world, including Church (Boston), Kenny's Castaways (New York), The Rivoli (Toronto), and more./n/nInternational Pop Overthrow (or IPO, as it has affectionately become known) is a pop music festival that has been held for the past nine years in Los Angeles, and more recently in Chicago, New York, Boston, Baltimore, Nashville, San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver, Chapel Hill, Atlanta and Liverpool, England (at the world famous Cavern Club)! 2009 was the most successful year yet, and 2010 should be even better.

The first stop in 2010 was San Diego in February. Later in the year, shows will be held in Phoenix, Detroit, Chicago, Milwaukee, Liverpool, Los Angeles, Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, New York, Boston, Toronto, Philadelphia, Denver, as well as other potential locations. Each International Pop Overthrow features between 25 and 180 of the best pop bands from around the world.

The purpose of International Pop Overthrow is two-fold: to give every worthy band who'd like to play their music in a festival atmosphere the chance to do so, and to bring pop music the attention it so richly deserves, with the hope that it gains the kind of exposure that brings it into the hearts and minds of the mainstream and, hopefully, today's radio and video markets.

Pop music, as it applies to International Pop Overthrow, is primarily guitar-based, melody-driven rock 'n roll music that is inspired by the spirit of the music that graced the radio waves in the 1960s and 1970s, but with a modern edge. If you feel that your music falls within this umbrella, IPO would love to hear it!

IPO is held at venues like The Abbey (Chicago), Knitting Factory (Los Angeles), The Cavern Club (Liverpool), Paycheck's Lounge (Detroit), Linneman's (Milwaukee), East End (Portland), The Railway Club (Vancouver), Church (Boston), Kenny's Castaways (New York), The Rivoli (Toronto) and many, many more!
