Battle for the Prize 2009

This year's Iuka Community Park "Battle for the Prize" 2009 will take place at Iuka Community Park on June 13th, 2009 @ 5:00 PM. The gates will open @ 4:00 for audience; sound checks begin at noon.



Local bands will be competing in a battle of the bands at the Iuka Park. Each band will be given a set length of fifteen minutes to perform and show their abilities before our panel of judges.



A sound engineer and sound equipment will be available for each band. They will have amps, mics and some house instruments. They will be prepared for each group coming in, so they have the right number of microphones and such. They have amps for the main sound system, but if you need to bring amps for your guitar, plan to bring your stuff.



They are encouraging all genres/styles of Christian music to perform at the Battle of the Bands on June 13. Their audience will be diverse. It will most likely be a teen, young adult and young family audience. It is crucial to understand that while they are encouraging all genres, they ONLY want Christian music. This means it can sound like any genre, but they only want Christian lyrics.



The event will be pushed on the radio as well. It is being advertised via flyers to all local churches. It will be in the newspaper and mentioned in all local news.



The top three winners will receive a donation, local news recognition, and a plaque. Compensation is negotiable on a case by case basis. Please note there is a $50 deposit fee to perform at the event for selected artists; the fee is refunded when the band arrives for the gig.
