Here's your chance to win that opportunity! They are looking for 32 bands to participate in the contest and will reserve 6 slots for Sonicbids artists. The purpose of this contest is to bring more awareness to local independent Seattle bands and solo artists; and to bring more anticipation and excitement leading up to Seattle's Tweet Drive 2011./n/n
Have you dreamed about what it might be like to have the opportunity to play on-stage with some of the “greats” in the Seattle music scene? Some of the icons? Here's your chance to win that opportunity! They are looking for 32 bands to participate in a battle of the bands and will reserve 6 slots for Sonicbids artists. The purpose of this contest is to bring more awareness to local independent Seattle bands and solo artists; and to bring more anticipation and excitement leading up to Seattle's Tweet Drive 2011. The Tweet Drive 2011 is the 2nd annual National event taking place in 36 cities across the US. The purpose is to gather toys for underprivileged children for the holidays. The Finale for the Jammin Challenge will be held on December 1st in conjunction with Tweet Drive 2011 in Seattle. They expect a sold-out venue for the event.

There will be 2 live performances for the semi-finalists; one on November 3rd and the other on November 17th both at The Hard Rock, Seattle. Voting at the semi-finals will be a combination of audience participation (45%) and a panel of judges. (55%). Artists must be available for one of these 2 events and to play at the finals on Thursday December 1st. Judging at the finals will be by “name” professionals in the Seattle music industry, supplied by Music Aid Northwest. Finals are to be held at The Hard Rock Café, Seattle WA. Contest is opened to bands or solo artist of any genre that are based in Washington State. Artists must play original music and must be independent artist; not yet signed to a major national label.



Selected artists receive:


  • First Place: A two-day recording session at Critical Sun Recordings, with the talent and time of Bubba Jones for mixing and mastering.

  • Second Place:A Band Photo Shoot with Mocha Charlie.

  • Third Place: A professional music video shoot from Utopia Media Entertainment..

  • Fourth Place: Surprise Gift from Behringer..

  • All 4 bands will have the opportunity to be booked for a gig in 2012 at The Hard Rock.

  • There is also a “GRAND PRIZE" for the winner! The Grand Prize winner will play at the Play it Forward, all star, icon jam put on by Music Aid Northwest in early 2012.

  • Each of the 32 bands or artists who make the first round cut will be awarded a special program featuring your music; plus an interview with you on Seattle Night Out Radio.

Each band will be judged on the following:


  • Musicianship: Overall skill and tightness of the band and its members. Ability to play technically and emotionally.

  • Originality: Uniqueness of the band. Band has fresh, new ideas. Adds their own spin and signature to what they are doing.

  • Showmanship: Ability to entertain and engage crowd during your performance. Eye catching stage antics or the band carries themselves in such a way that everyone wants to watch as well as listen. Your ability to demonstrate community and support for other participating bands / musicians during the event night.

  • Crowd: Based on Crowd reaction to the bands. Consideration will be taken into account for band time slots, i.e., a band playing earlier may not get the same reaction as a band playing later. Points will be deducted if your fan base leaves after your performance. Judging will not be announced until all bands have performed. The goal is to encourage cooperation among all bands.

Band scored for each category with a 1, 2, 3 or 4 rating, with 4 being the highest.All decisions by the judges are final
