Seattle Wave Radio's Jammin' Challenge 2012

Have you dreamed about what it might be like to have the opportunity to play on-stage with some of the “greats” in the Seattle music scene? Some of the icons? Here's your chance to win that opportunity! They are looking for 32 bands to participate in a battle of the bands and will reserve 6 slots for Sonicbids artists. The purpose of this contest is to bring more awareness to local independent Seattle bands and solo artists; and to bring more anticipation and excitement leading up to Seattle's Tweet Drive 2012.

There will be a final 4 live performance on November 29th, 2012 at The Hard Rock Cafe, Seattle. Voting at the finals will be a combination of the attending audience participation (45%) and a panel of judges. (55%)

Regardless of the genre of your submission, for the purposes of the contest, the elimination rounds will be aired on Seattle WAVE Radio Rock Channel, both the website and mobile stream.

Fan Voting

The elimination round is fan base voting driven. Voting will take place on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/SeattleWaveRadio. A different secret word for each individual band or artist will be announced on air the night their song is played, immediately after each track and again after all tracks have played. Voters MUST use the secret word; otherwise their vote will not count. Anyone listening is eligible to vote in the preliminary 4 rounds. The order the tracks will be played and the secret word for each track will not be announced prior to airing. Remember: this is on-line radio: listeners can tune in from anywhere in the WORLD!! Gather up your fan base to listen and vote.

Elimination Round #1

Will run Tuesday & Thursday nights September 11th, 13th, 18th and 20th with 4 songs being played each Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00pm to 8:30pm on Seattle WAVE Radio, the Rock channel. Winners move on to the live semi-finals.

The live semi-finals for the 4 winners of Round #1 will take place at The High Dive on Saturday October 13th.

Elimination Round #2

Will run every Tuesday and Thursday night on September 25th & 27th; and on October 2nd and 4th following the same format and rules.

The live semi-finals for the 4 winners of Round #2 will take place at The High Dive on Friday
October 19th.

Live Semi-Finals

Voting at the live semi-finals, which will determine who will play at The Hard Rock on November 29th, will be by the attending audience participation, plus a panel of judges determined by Seattle WAVE Radio. Live audience will vote: the top 2 bands from each semi-final segment move on to the live Hard Rock Nov. 29th event!

A 6 week, $1,025.00 promotion by Seattle Night Out of the gig of your choice in 2013, with a center slide, an interview and a video posted at http://www.myseattlenightout.com will be awarded to all 8 of the semi-finalists.

Winners at the finals on November 29th will receive the following prizes:

• First Place: A two-day recording session at Critical Sun Recordings, with the talent and time of Bubba Jones for mixing and mastering.


• Second Place:A Band Photo Shoot with Mocha Charlie.


• Third Place: A professional music video shoot from Utopia Media Entertainment..


• Fourth Place: Surprise Gift. Last year, it was $250.00 worth of equipment from Behringer.


• All 4 bands: will play at NW Music Experience Conference music showcase produced by Songwriters in Seattle May 17-19 2013.


• There is also a “GRAND PRIZE” for the first place winner! The Grand Prize winner will play at Play it Forward 2013; opening for the NW Iconic Rock Stars in the show.

Global Heat ~ 1st place

"As the winner of the 2011 Jammin' Challenge, Global Heat enjoyed not only the chance to perform live at Hard Rock Cafe in the semi-finals and finals of the band competition, but also several great prizes and unexpected perks. We received a two-day recording session at Critical Sun Recordings, with the talent and time of Bubba Jones for mixing and mastering; a $1,500 promo deal from Seattle Night Out; and an interview on Seattle Night Out Radio. Although it wasn't listed as a formal prize, we were also interviewed by Greg Roth of Seattle Music Insider. And perhaps the best opportunity and most fun was the chance to perform during Play it Forward II produced by Music Aid Northwest in January 2012 with a NW All-Star line-up. We got to warm up for Alan White Band and Heart by Heart. Not only was the show very inspiring, but it felt good to help Music Aid Northwest raise funds to further music education in the schools. Aside from all this, we appreciated the opportunity to support the Tweet Drive benefiting Treehouse. Thanks to Seattle Night Out, Seattle Wave Radio, and the Hard Rock Cafe for producing the Jammin' Challenge."

"This was an outstanding experience for our band for many reasons. We had the opportunity to network with a TON of industry people in the local scene, connect with loads of other musicians in our region, and receive incredibly thoughtful feedback from the panel of judges. Between all of that and getting to add The Hard Rock to our band's resume, we were very happy to participate. The icing on the cake was that we won two professional photo shoots with Mocha Charlie whose work speaks for itself. We also landed a spot in LoveFest through our exposure at the show.
