The Jazz Cafe in Detroit is part of the premiere Music Hall in Detroit, Michigan. The Music Hall's "Jazz Cafe Discovery Series" presents new and emerging jazz talent from the metropolitan Detroit area. Performances are held in the intimate, art-deco Jazz Cafe, located in the lower level of Music Hall. Performances are held in the intimate, art-deco Jazz Cafe, located in the lower level of Music Hall.
The Jazz Cafe will select a minimum of one Sonicbids artist to perform at the series. Monetary compensation will not be provided. However, these exciting performances are recorded for live broadcast and bands have the opportunity for a $5,000 cash prize and a slot on the stage at the Jazz on the River Festival at Elizabeth Park in Trenton, Michigan.
The Jazz Cafe features local, regional, national and international artists, and they work hard to promote local music in the Detroit area. In the last year and a half, 6,000 artists have performed. The Jazz Cafe presents a mix of music, including jazz, blues, world and R&B.
