Jazz Improv LIVE! - Convention & Festival 2007 held in New York, October 25-28, 2007 will take place at the New Yorker Hotel and Manhattan Center along with several satellite stages, including Virgin MegaStore in Times Square (NYC) and Union Square (NYC). The event will provide the opportunity for high visibility in front of many jazz fans and industry attendees.

There are a minimum of three performance slots reserved for Sonicbids artists.

What is sure to be a fabulous four days will encompass over 150 events during Jazz Improv Convention 2007, including performances from a lineup of leading, influential artists and emerging players throughout each day and evening. The festival component of the event will feature over 200 artists across seven different stages, including an emerging artist stage. There will also be an array of artists, experts, and authorities who will be leading workshops and clinics, participating on panels, and giving lectures and interviews.

JAZZ IMPROV LIVE! will represent all genres of jazz, including: straight ahead, bebop, Latin jazz, fusion, avant garde, contemporary, world-jazz, etc.

All artists will be compensated for their performance, with pay to be determined based upon stature (emerging vs. established artist), time of performance, stage and number of group members.

A preliminary performance line-up is as follows: McCoy Tyner Trio featuring Stanley Clarke and Joe Lovano, Pat Martino Quartet, Jimmy Heath Big Band, Geri Allen, Wallace Roney, Sonny Fortune, Sun Ra Arkestra, Vic Juris, Jackie Ryan, Valery Ponomarev, Ron Blake, Jimmy Bruno, Mark Elf, Cecil Brooks III, Loren Schoenberg & The Jazz Museum in Harlem All-Stars, Hal Galper, Don Friedman, Mike Longo, Harvie S, Tim Horner, Michael Weiss, John DiMartino, Dom Minasi, Marvin Stamm, Frank Catalano, and others. The story keeps building daily!

There will be an Expo comprised of booths from record labels, DVD labels, music publishers, instrument companies, retailers, independent artists, agents and publicists, educational programs and more. The event will also be attended by the general public. Jazz Improv Magazine’s very own readers (thousands of which live on the Eastern seaboard) have proven time and again that they are responsive. They earn an average annual income of $160,000 and purchase CDs, DVDs and frequent jazz clubs, jazz festivals and jazz cruises!

Some performance spots and workshops will be determined in collaboration with sponsoring companies - including record labels, instruments companies, managers, agents, and so forth and in some cases artists themselves. Artists are encouraged to recruit music industry companies and organizations with whom they’re involved to consider becoming sponsors in general of Jazz Improv LIVE!, and of their own prospective appearances (performance, panel workshop) in particular.

Current sponsors include: Virgin MegaStore, Mosaic Records, Stromberg Guitars, Buffet Crampon, Vandoren, The New School for Jazz & Contemporary Studies, Trufire and Sonicbids.
