Summary

Jazzin' on Jefferson celebrates the jazz heritage of the Jefferson Chalmers area on the east side of Detroit. Jazzin' on Jefferson first shut down the streets in 2004 to bring jazz, blues, food, arts and crafts, and other activities to Detroit's lower Eastside. Since that time it has grown to a two-day long event that draws over 18,000 people with the 2012 festival being held on June 15 and 16.

This event brings the community together to celebrate the rich history of the neighborhood and highlight the work that is being done to create its future. This year Jazzin' on Jefferson is seeking local and national artists who will appeal to a younger generation of twenty and thirty somethings that would like to move into and help revitalize the area.

Compensation for selected artists will be negotiated at the time of booking.

Past headliners include: Marcus Belgrave, Eddie Bo & the Motor City All-Stars featuring Johnnie Basset, Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, and Lonnie Brooks Blues Band.
