Summary

The Journeys Backyard Barbecue will feature music, skateboarding and freestyle Motocross in six key Journeys markets across the country at featured mall partner locations. The Backyard Barbecue is scheduled to stop in Phoenix, San Antonio, Houston, Nashville, St. Louis and Philadelphia throughout the month of June 2006. The event series will also feature a “Battle of the Bands” contest, sponsored by Converse, that will pit local bands against each other for cash and prizes that will help drive a local flavor to the national series.



Bands will compete and fans will have the chance to vote for their favorite band at kiosks around the venue. The band with the most votes wins. Bands are encouraged to drive as many of their local fans to help them win. Bands set times will be selected randomly once the bands have been established.



We are looking for a total of 18 bands - three unsigned indie, punk and emo bands in each market - that are street marketing fiends. There is one slot in each market (6 slots) reserved for a Sonicbids band. Bands should have a good local followings and be able to draw large crowds You must play clean shows and have clean lyrics since these are mall parking lots in public venues. There will be a $500 cash prize plus free Converse swag for the winner in each city.



Featured perfoming athletes at some of the stops are Tony Hawk, Bam Margera, Shaun White, Bucky Lasek and Christian Hosoi among others. The freestyle motocross demos will be performed by the Metal Mulisha Demo Team.

June 11, 2006 – Houston, TX – Memorial City Mal- SUBMISSIONS CLOSEDl

June 17, 2006 – Nashville, TN – Cool Springs Galleria

June 18, 2006 – St. Louis, MO – Mid Rivers Mall

June 24, 2006 – Philadelphia, PA – Oxford Valley Mall



Please note: Bands must live within 40 miles of the market they submit to in order to be eligible. There are no age requirements.
