Summary

King Cat Music (KCCM) is taking submissions between now and December 31th, 2008 for their Song of the Year Contest. Please keep in mind that King Cat Music is a Christian Music company. The submissions are taken for each individual month. There will be a finalist for the month of July, August, September, October, November, December, and then a wild card. This is how it will work:

  • Round 1 - Submissions are narrowed down to 5 finalists by the staff at King Cat Music.

  • Round 2 - The finalists' songs will be displayed on www.kingcatmusic.com to be critiqued by KCCM member songwriters. A songwriter that has submitted a song will not be able to participate in the critiques in the month of their submission. The top song will go to round 3.

  • Round 3 - All finalists are put on a compilation and sent to participating judges in the industry.

Prizes include features in magazines, on the internet, in mass e-mails, and on radio. KCCM will also honor the final winner at the Ninth Annual KCCM Awards with a trophy and the monthly finalists will be honored during the dinner at the Awards with a plaque. This is the top Award given out that evening. There will also be a live performance opportunity at the Ninth Annual KCCM Awards. Music will be posted on www.KingCatMusic.com and all submissions will be given a public page with information from the Sonicbids or submission forms.

Some of the judges consist of Nashville and California Christian Labels, DJ's and Managers at Christian Radio Stations, Booking Agency's such at Heartfelt Music Group, and more. A world wide public vote will also be a factor in the judging! Past winners include bands like Chronos, Plain Jane, I Witness and others listed on www.kccmawards.com.

King Cat Music started out in the Mid-West as an organization to help artists connect with their target audience. The Song of the Year exists to help songwriters get their music heard by industry professionals and fans, and to help Christian songwriters master their crafts. KCCM considers all music genres that are Christian.
