Summary

The Lilac Festival, now in its 22nd year, will be held on Sunday May 29th, 2011. This is an annual event that takes place on the last Sunday of May is a street festival held over a 13 block stretch of 4th Street SW in Calgary, Alberta. This festival has been a great medium for local artists to gain massive exposure due to the 125,000 people attending the event each and every year. It will consider all musical and performance art acts from world music to singer/songwriter to rock and welcome dance troupes and anything related to children's entertainment. Compensation is provided to artists and is negotiable on an individual applicant basis.

The 4th Street Lilac Festival is all about promoting independent up and coming talent from around Calgary as well as internationally. It will consider all musical acts from world music to singer/songwriter to rock and welcome dance troupes and anything related to children's entertainment.




There are 30 programmed spots over 7 stages open to Sonicbids members and the event would prefer a large range of genres. Compensation is provided to artists and is negotiable on an individual applicant basis and artists can sell their merchandise. Lilac Festival does not provide lodging or cover travel costs. A sound system and sound engineer will be provided at the festival.



Some local talent who have progressed since being apart of the festival include MBF, Seventh Rain, Souls in Rhythm and the Mocking Shadows. These bands have created a strong presence in the Calgary scene.
