Summary

The Lilac Festival will be held on Sunday May 26th, 2013. This is a free annual event taking place on the last Sunday of May and is a street festival stretching over 13 blocks of 4th Street SW in Calgary, Alberta. Due to an attendance of over 100,000 people each and every year, this festival has been a great medium for musicians to gain massive exposure.

The 4th Street Lilac Festival is dedicated to promoting independent, up and coming talent from around Calgary, the province and Canada. The festival is versatile and will consider all musical acts from world music to singer/songwriter to rock. The festival also welcomes dance troupes and children's entertainment.

There are 30 programmed spots over 7 stages open to Sonicbids members, and the event would prefer a large range of genres. Compensation is provided to artists and is negotiable on an individual applicant basis. The festival can only accept submissions from Canadian bands as the Lilac Festival does NOT provide lodging or cover travel costs. Artists are welcome to sell their merchandise during their performance. A sound system and sound engineer will be provided at each stage.

Some local talent who have progressed since being apart of the festival include Michael Bernard Fitzgerald, Seventh Rain, Souls in Rhythm and the Mocking Shadows. These bands have a strong presence in the Calgary music scene.
