Listen Up Knoxville! presents the Relix Variety Theatre Closed Mic, currently accepting EPKS for bands to play the feature spot. This series is the project of Hudson K and the band is mostly interested in working with bands that will gig swap with other artists. This series is the project of Hudson K and the band is mostly interested in working with bands that will gig swap with other artists. Bands from all over the region will be considered.



Set length is 30 minutes with the benefit of playing to a receptive audience. Compensation will be based on attendance and there is no guarantee. Bands should use this as a chance to build their fan-base in the southeast as well as network with other professional musicians in the area.



The objective of the Relix Variety Theatre Closed Mic is to provide a platform for local artists to meet and work with regional artists in order to establish working relationships for future gig-swapping and artistic support. The closed-mic will also provide a positive atmosphere for both professional and up-and-coming artists to try out new material and hone their skills as performing musicians.



Rules:

• Have fun.


• Open-mic performers must sign up for specific times BEFORE the day of show or at Relix between 7:30-8pm.


• Open mic performers must arrive between 7:30-8 to sign in or their slot will be given up. Please make an effort to attend the entire evening. Those that do will receive preferred time slots.


• Performers receive 10 minutes. No exceptions. Original material is preferred and necessary to be considered for the grand prize.


• One winner will be announced at the end of the evening. The winner will proceed to the finals in December.

Grand Prize:

• 1 song or 10 hours with Famous London Recording Studio


• Photo shoot with Tovah Love Photography


• Poster design by McQueen Creative


• Show with Hudson K

Terms: Currently this series is free, but will in the future necessitate a small cover to continue. $2 cover for everyone except local/regional featured band. Open-mic performers will be asked to pay $2 in order to help the out-of-town band. Door goes to out-of-town band for travel expense.
