Summary

The MTV Book “Lit Riffs” is a collection of fictional short stories inspired by classic songs. We are putting together a soundtrack CD, which will be a collection of recordings to accompany the book. The recordings are new versions of these classic songs reflecting the tone of the stories. Volume 1 was released in June of 2004 and Volume 2 hits bookstores in January of 2007.

Fetch Records (Formerly S.A.M. Records) will be releasing the soundtrack and has reserved one slot for a Sonicbids artist to record a cover for the soundtrack. Artists should submit their EPK, which should feature the best possible representation of their recording abilities. Fetch Records will determine the exact song and producer.

Fetch records will cover all recording and travel expenses associated with the project. Selected artists may also be asked to join the "Lit Riffs" Book Store tour, the costs of which will be covered by Fetch Records and MTV Books.

MTV Books will service their entire press database with copies of the book and CD for coverage. Furthermore, a MTV BOOKS will launch a Lit Riffs website with a specific artist page for each artist on the soundtrack.

More about the book:

Following in the footsteps of the late great Lester Bangs -- the most revered and irreverent of rock 'n' roll critics -- twenty-four celebrated writers have penned stories inspired by great songs for Volume 1 including Anthony Decurtis and Toure (Rolling Stone). Volume 2 includes such writers as Bernie Taupin (Elton John), Rhett Miller (Old 97’s), Ellis Paul, Martin Sexton, and Ryan Miller (Guster).
