Summary

For the fifth year running, the K-State Student Union Program Council and the Manhattan Parks & Recreation Department are working together to produce the Little Apple® Jazz Festival as part of the Arts in the Park series. The festival, which will be held from approximately 5pm-11pm on a Saturday in July, 2009 at the City Park’s Bandshell, unites people through their common love of jazz music.

Last year’s festival attracted 1000 people. The festival also aims to attract out-of-towners to show off Manhattan, Kansas -- the Little Apple®! There will be between four and six bands, including a traditional jazz band, a contemporary/smooth jazz band, a Latin jazz band, and a headliner. Compensation for bands will range from $100-$2,000 all inclusive (including travel).

There will be two stages at the festival, including an emerging artist stage. Little Apple® is looking for local/regional artists or those artists traveling through the area.

The headlining bands for the 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008 festivals were Kevin Mahogany, Kathy Kosins, Ron Gutierrez, and Lisa Henry, respectively.
