Summary

For the third year running, The K-State Student Union Program Council and a coalition of partners are working together with Arts in the Park to produce the Little Apple® Jazz Festival. The festival, which will be held from approximately 5 pm-11 pm on Saturday, July 14, 2007 at the City Park’s Bandshell, unites people through their common love of Jazz music.

Last year’s festival attracted 2,200 people and the 2007 festival is predicted to attract more than 5,000 people! The festival also aims to attract out-of-towners to show off Manhattan, Kansas -- the Little Apple ®! There will be between six and eight bands including a traditional Jazz band, a contemporary Jazz band, a Latin Jazz/Salsa band, and perhaps a blues band with a headliner. The headlining bands for the 2005 and 2006 festivals were Kevin Mahogany and Kathy Kosins, respectively. There are two stages at the festival, including an emerging artist stage. Compensation for bands will range from $100-$5,000 and is all inclusive.

The partners for this year’s Little Apple® Jazz Festival include Midnight Blue Jazz Inc., International Association for Jazz Education, Ag Press, Dow Multicultural Resource Center, Bowman Bowman Novick, Inc., and The Manhattan Convention and Visitors Bureau.
