Live Different- Spring Tour 2014

Live Different is a charity based out of Hamilton, Ontario, that is seeking bands who would like to participate in their cross-Canada adventure. Live Different is currently one of the most in-demand and popular motivational presentations in Canadian high schools, inspiring a generation of young people to invest in people, not in stuff. Live Different has two teams touring full-time across the country, speaking in as many as three hundred schools a year, to thousands of students from St. John's, Newfoundland to Victoria, British Columbia. The purpose of these presentations is to spread the message that every life has value, and that there is hope in the midst of all circumstances. Along with music from live bands, the Live Different presentation is a fast-paced, engaging experience, that includes professional speakers, video clips, and crowd interaction. Ensuring that each one of these elements is presented in a strong and professional manner is essential to the success of the shows.

Live Different is seeking two bands, one to join each of their two teams as they cross the country doing presentations in various schools. The bands will participate in the Live Different tour inclusively for the four months of the spring semester from January 13 to June 1, 2014. Bands will be expected to perform nearly every school day during that span.

In order to be considered for this opportunity, artists must have:

• A positive, hard-working attitude


• Ability to interact enthusiastically and professionally with a young audience/fan base


• A professional online presence (Website/Facebook/Myspace/Bandcamp)


• Merchandise


• Well-produced recordings


• Lyrical content that does not contradict Live Different's message

Live Different will cover all basic travel and lodging expenses for selected artists as well as supply a tour bus and some audio/video equipment. Artists must provide their own instruments. Selected artists are not compensated for their performance in the presentations, but are able to sell merchandise daily to a large audience and retain 90% of sales.

Live Different's tours are great opportunities for bands to promote themselves in a forum that would not otherwise be available to them, and to gain valuable experience touring with a jam-packed schedule across the country without taking on the burden of financing the tour for themselves. Bands should understand that while on tour, they will be considered representatives of Live Different and will expected to speak and behave in ways that reflect the values of the organization. Bands must also participate fully in the duties shared between all members of the tour, including set up and tear down of gear each day, interacting with students, manning merchandise tables, and may even be given the opportunity to speak in a presentation if interested.
