Summary

Low Budget Superhero is an online music ‘zine accepting music and artists for review. Though based in Boston, Low Budget Superhero is all about cool new music from the local music communities across the USA. It launched online in March 2007, formed by a booking/artist development entity.

In 1996, Lexi Kahn showed up at the Middle East club in Cambridge, MA and walked straight into a local rock community that hasn’t been able to get rid of her yet. She didn’t review that night’s show (she still recalls it was The Shods, Betty Goo and Chris Ware Band), but Lexi soon after found a copy of The Noise fanzine, joined the staff and has been churning out nice words about local music since 1997.

She started Low Budget Superhero (LBSH) in 2002 as a show booking/publicity entity, and during a busy four years she managed many killer CD release campaigns, booked bands and gave tour managing a try. In 2007, she wanted less booking, more writing, so she turned LBSH into an online music ‘zine. In addition to managing LBSH.com, Lexi is currently Senior Associate Editor of The Noise, still consults for local bands that need publicity advice, writes bios for bands and books shows here and there. Lexi also co-chairs the monthly Boston Rock and Roll Social and appears on panel discussions during industry events like Nemo.

LBSH publishes features, CD reviews, live reviews, show news and more. Reviews are posted on an ongoing basis and open to all genres of artists from all locations.
