Please note:The Lowell Folk Festival is a member of the NCTA Festival Family. Artists applying to this festival need not apply to the Richmond or National Folk Festivals, which are also produced by the NCTA.


Over 20 years old, the annual Lowell Folk Festival is one of the largest events of its kind in the nation. A celebration of traditional music, dance, storytelling food, and crafts, presenting the arts of many nations, races and languages at the same event on an equal footing, the FREE TO THE PUBLIC event attracts crowds in excess of 185,000. The festival books up to 30 acts, which are scheduled throughout the weekend on 6 outdoor stages.


The Lowell Folk Festival is produced by the Lowell Festival Foundation & the Lowell National Historical Park in partnership with the National Council for the Traditional Arts (NCTA).

Past performers include: Angkor Dance Troupe, Bill Kirchen & Too Much Fun, The Birmingham Sunlights, Dervish, Dynasty Carnival Parade, Eden Brent and many more

Perhaps the only festival around where you can experience Ethiopian funk music (Debo Band) on the same stage as modern bluegrass (Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper) and polka (Stanky & the Coal Miners). -Boston.com
