Summary

On Friday and Saturday nights, Mandarin Oriental, Washington D.C. presents live straight-ahead jazz vocalists from 8pm to midnight. The hotel is accepting submission from jazz vocalists from the D.C metropolitan area and beyond to perform with the hotel’s house trio (acoustic piano, bass and drums).



Solo jazz vocalists (think: Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, etc.) are encouraged to submit their EPK's and a video of him or herself performing live. Vocalists must also have stage presence, the ability to interact comfortably with a crowd, and the knowledge and skills to work with a jazz trio with whom they have not previously performed./n/nOn Friday and Saturday nights, Mandarin Oriental, Washington D.C. presents live straight-ahead jazz vocalists from 8pm to midnight. Out of town artists should also have some name recognition and fan base in the D.C. area. Please note: the hotel is not seeking submissions from independent bands, only from vocalists.



Here’s what selected artists get:


  • Artists will be compensated. This amount will be detirmined at the time of booking.

  • Travel and lodging accommodation will be provided for out of town artists.

  • A sound system will be provided at the venue.

On Friday and Saturday nights from 8pm - midnight, the Empress Lounge features entertainment by top jazz vocalists from Washington D.C. and beyond. The lounge offers light fare and a complete bar menu. It is a non-smoking room, but a large terrace overlooking the hotel's Japanese Garden is adjacent to the lounge area for patrons who wish to smoke. There is no cover charge.
